Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī was a Shīʿī Imāmī polymath with a formidable intellect who made defining and lasting contributions to a range of scholarly subjects including theology, philosophy, astronomy, logic, arithmetic, algebra, and ethics, amongst others. Ṭūsī’s influence on scholarship cannot be overstated and needs no introduction. The Tajrīd al-Iʿtiqād is a foundational text without which any history of philosophy would be incomplete.
